On March 28, 2015 SWCHR Board member Bill White of Surprise, Arizona became the recipient of the 2014 Award for Excellence in Herpetological Photography. Bill, who is currently a freshman SWCHR Board Member and was one of the original charter members of SWCHR has contributed a number of outstanding photographs to the SWCHR web site during those years. In addition to a plaque commemorating his accomplishment Bill also received a $250 cash award.

The Award for Excellence in Herpetological Photography will continue to be presented on an annual basis. SWCHR is very pleased with our first eight years of having sponsored this award program that allows us to recognize and reward talented individuals who demonstrate a high degree of photographic excellence in the field of herpetology. This annual photo competition is open to both members and non-members of SWCHR.

During the prior years SWCHR's Award for Excellence in Herpetological Photography has also been bestowed on Jason Penney, Gary Nafis, Will Wells, Travis Dimler (twice), Orry Martin, and Matthijs Hollanders.
