Hello, after an unusually cool and wet Spring in just the last week or so everything has completely changed.. we now have abnormally dry and hot conditions here in my area. With a persistent gusty wind that chases me indoors most days earlier than would be my habit. About the only things I can say for sure that are loving this situation are the race runners, Cnemidophorus (sic) and the CHIGGERS!
.
I have been seeing numerous patch-nose snakes on the roadsides south and east of town as well as a few diamondbacks on the clay roads north and east of here, mainly in the mornings. I have met a few other things while I've been out hiking.. here's a sample.

.. the critters have been at least as grumpy over the conditions as I am.. and don't stop for portraits!

Have fun, be safe.
