The Southwestern Center for Herpetological Research (SWCHR) is pleased to announce that Ayissa Sandoval's outstanding photograph of two battling adult Texas Indigo Snakes (Drymarchon melanurus erebennus) taken at the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge in Hidalgo County, Texas has been selected by the SWCHR membership as our Photo of the Month for August, 2011. The Texas Indigo Snake is protected as a Threatened Species by the State of Texas. You may click here to view Ayissa's winning image.
Our congratulations to Ayissa for having her photograph selected as our Photo of the Month for August, 2011.
Having one of her images selected during the year as a Photo of the Month earns her a cash award of $25.00 and automatically qualifies her as a nominee in the competition for our 2011 Award for Excellence in Herpetological Photography which will be selected and awarded in February of 2012. The Award for Excellence in Herpetological Photography consist of a larger cash award, and a plaque mounted certificate.
