The Southwestern Center for Herpetological Research (SWCHR) is pleased to announce that Richard Porter's photograph of an atypical melanistic Sierra Garter Snake (Thamnophis couchii) taken in El Dorado County, California has been selected by the SWCHR membership as our Photo of the Month for July, 2011. Our congratulations to Richard for having his photograph selected as our Photo of the Month for July, 2011.
Having one of his images selected during the year as a Photo of the Month earns him a cash award of $25.00 and automatically qualifies him as a nominee in the competition for our 2011 Award for Excellence in Herpetological Photography which will be selected and awarded in February of 2012. The Award for Excellence in Herpetological Photography consist of a larger cash award, and a plaque mounted certificate.
