Distribution:  In our region, this species occurs throughout northeast Texas and westward into the Texas Pahhandle where it freely intergrades with other Thamnophis proximus subspecies. The poorly defined areas of intergradation are still in need of additional work to better define them.

Legal Status:  Thamnophis proximus proximus has no protected status in our region.
