Distribution:  In our region, this species occurs along the Gulf Coast of Texas from Port O'Conner to Brownsville. In the Pacific it also occurs along the Coast of California.

Legal Status:  Chelonia mydas is listed as an Threatened Species by both the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and by the State of Texas.
